Research Project CINOGY is a proud member of the scientific network "PoliLas" supported by BMWi (Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology). The aim of PoliLas is the application of IR-lasers for the polishing of optical surfaces to replace conventional abrasive methods. First investigations have shown that laser beams have the potential of being an innovative alternative. Polishing times of aspherical optics can be decreased by factor 10, presenting a significant gain in efficiency. CINOGY contributes to the research project with its outstanding laser beam profiler. In this context CINOGY develops a new wavefront sensor, which enables the exact configuration of the IR-lasers and is necessary for the successful polishing of optical surfaces.
